Telling Moments Storytelling Theater - Our Story
For the past two years a small group of volunteers has been working hard to launch a new storytelling theater in the Greater Washington DC Area. Telling Moments Storytelling Theater, a non-profit 501c3 organization, will present top quality storytelling concerts as well as provide other storytelling related services.
We are delighted that after months of planning, Telling Moments Storytelling Theater officially opened March 20th, 2010.
Washington Storytellers Theatre presented outstanding storytelling concerts for adults in the Washington Metro area for 16 years. Telling Moments Storytelling Theater, a new organization, will carry on WST’s tradition of presenting outstanding storytelling concerts for adults in the metro area as well as achieve broader and wider goals. All the members of the initiating Board at some time served on the board of the Washington Storytellers Theater and are passionate about storytelling as perfomers and as supporters of this wonderful art form. Washington Storytellers Theatre is now fully functioning as SpeakeasyDC, focusing entirely on the cultivation of local talent and the development of personal, true stories.

Our March 20 opening concert featured the dean of master storyteller Jon Spelman. In planning this opening we prevailed upon Jon, as our local national storyteller, to open the Main Stage of Telling Moments Storytelling Theater. Jon has graciously donated his performance to support the new venture.
We are grateful to storytellers who graciously accepted our invition to perform on our stage: Elizabeth Ellis, Charlotte Blake Alston, Donald Davis, Judith Black, Antonio Rocka, Ed Stivender, Charlotte Blake Alston, Noa Baum, Ellouise Schoettler Linda Fang.
Initially we plan on producing two performances a year featuring nationally-known storytellers. As our organization grows we will expand the storytelling schedule and the related storytelling services we offer.
We invite you to join us in our efforts to establish Telling Moments Storytelling Theater.
We welcome your time and talents as well as your financial contributions to foster many memorable evenings of storytelling in the Washington Metro Area.
